A follow-up. And before you read further, guess which of our Senators is up for re-election.
Last week, the Leadership Council on Civil Rights stopped by to remind Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson of their long standing opposition to judicial filibusters. By a vote of 70-29, the vote to end cloture passed with Saxby Chamliss voting to break the filibuster. Judge Hamilton was confirmed by the the Senate a few days later.
So for those keeping score, Johnny Isakson once wrote "“Every judge nominated by this president or any president deserves an up-or-down vote. It's the responsibility of the Senate. The Constitution requires it.”.
He voted to filibuster a judge.
Senator Chambliss was apparently to busy drawing rectangle mountains to be bothered.

It should be clear by now that declarations of morality only apply so long as there is not a shift in the majority. Filibusters are fine when you're in the minority, they're only shameful when you're in the minority.
